Frequently Asked Questions

What are fire shutters and how do they work?
Fire shutters are seen as reliable barriers that close into place to contain fire and smoke, protecting escape routes and assets. Supplied made-to-measure, all our fire shutter doors supply 120–240-minute rating, therefore allowing crucial time for people to escape potentially burning buildings. Fire shutters are designed to shut automatically on activation of the fire alarm or on detection of heat and smoke. Our qualified engineers integrate them with sealed bearings and tested motors then commission and certify every installation.
What are the advantages of fire shutters?
At Royal Industrial Doors we see fire shutters as a vital layer of protection that limits the spread of fire, safeguarding escape routes and assets. Their automatic closure on alarm or heat detection delivers swift containment for between 2-hour and 4-hour rating. Robust manufacture and precision installation ensures long term reliability and low maintenance demands. Integration with building fire systems and professional commissioning aids often rude insurance risk. Fire shutters support business continuity and provide clear evacuation routes, giving you peace of mind. How are fire shutters installed?
Our installation process begins with a site survey, including precise measurements, allowing for a made-to-measure fit. Engineers prepare the opening fit guides brackets and mounting plates then assemble the barrel curtain slats and install the box end locks and drive unit. Electric drives are connected and integrated with the building fire alarm and control systems so shutters close automatically on activation or heat detection. The system is commissioned tested and certified with handover documentation. We also offer planned maintenance, and a 24/7 emergency call out to keep shutters operational.
